OK So Viss is fun to play with, turn your friends and loved ones into common household items, furniture, monsters of nightmare etc. However in order to keep the game fairly balanced without allowing the Vis to get out of hand we have some home rules.

If the Viss is an attack, you have to attempt to heal it as normal, if the person who viss'ed you is of a better Gen than you, then it is a non-healable wound, you get neg traits, flaws, wounds etc. Also an attack cannot give you any advantage from this assault. You don't become more menacing, more intimidating etc. These attacks are violent, brutal and violate your beast in a major way. The only way to fix a Viss attack from a better gen is with a Viss heal, which can be done by RP without the cost of XP but only to change you back to your normal form.

If the attack is from a Gen that is worse or the same as yours then it heals as normal.

If the Viss is a boon, you have to spend XP to keep it permanent, and it will depend on what was done to you. Otherwise it heals as normal, and you have to spend downtime to heal it or you'll begin to gain wounds as your beast tries to reject the change. If you do spend the xp then your beast accepts the change done to you, and you do not have to heal the wound.

Why is Vicissitude the only attack that does permanent damage in the game? Could we have it heal as if aggravated damage instead?

The way I read the book the change is unhealable by lesser gens, the lethal damage is a side effect not the prime effect.

I have the same questions, and also:

Why does your beast try to reject positive changes but not negative ones to your detriment? It seems like it would more appreciate things that make it stronger than things that make it weaker.

And more mechanically, does this mean we can have vicissitude modifications without paying xp, but instead pay a blood cost to heal the wound it does us each session? Somewhat like a retainer?

I will also point out that you have removed the generational aspects of dominate, but you appear to be choosing to keep them with visc. I would suggest either removing them all or keeping them all.

i think allowing a 7th gen Tzimisce the power to add permanent injuries to players is the exact kind of thing your trying to avoid when you say visc gets out of hand.

i think the wound is only in affect when you dont spend xp for a beneficial modification. what stays is a neg trait if used to cause harm on a person.

Hey Tzimisce: Never teach Viscissitude, and never removed punitary Visc damage from targets. Anyone who deviates gets turned into a chair. Abuse for profit. Go.

It does say in the attack if they are lower Gen it is permanent wound but if thats not the case then great.

the wound/mark that is made is permanent the damage can be healed normally was my take of it

OK So some clarification and minor tweaking

Viss broken down - Many of the Vis abilities require time to do, and a willing or immobile subject.

Mechanically any damage done to you can be healed on the wound track, but the cosmetics of the damage remain. Wounds done by Vis are not precise attacks when done in the heat of battle and will leave permanent scars, something most vampires are not accustomed too.

level 1 is self only

level 2 can be used in combat to give someone up to three traits of repugnant mechanically (this requires three successful attacks) , or grant a health level in exchange for a physical trait (this requires you to sit still while the body crafter crafts)

level 3 can be used in combat and can cause one level of lethal damage as long as level 2 is not used in conjunction.

the other levels are self only and exactly as stated by the book

Now to heal these wounds, we will remove the gen component, other flesh crafters may heal this damage if given the proper amount of time, however the diff for fixing an elder gen's craft will increase the diff of the "heal"

Wounds will leave scars, unless fixed by a flesh crafter but they may be healed as Aggravated unless closed up by a flesh crafter, in which case they become lethal and can be healed with blood.

As with all benefits, anything that helps you on your sheet must come with an XP cost, if you don't spend the xp to keep it, it goes away.
